Playing with Daddy

*Warning: Nothing super exciting happens. I just think it's cute and hilarious.
**Thanks Mom and Dad for the video camera! We love it!

First Ponytail...Sort of

Rebecca's hair is getting longer. Slowly. It's very blonde and what is there is a little hard see. So far, her hair hasn't been nearly long enough to attempt a ponytail. But yesterday as she was sitting on my lap, I started to play with her hair and I noticed that I could fit an elastic around this one section of hair.

The elastic fit and stayed in place. But I think I'll wait until her hair gets a little longer in front before I attempt another ponytail. Plus Clinton has forbade me from ever doing the "Alfalfa" again. I don't blame him. It looks a little goofy.

A Day in the Life

Clinton's in the middle of potato harvest.
This is what he does all day. He runs the piler that stacks the potatoes.

I chase a little monkey (also known as Rebecca) around all day. She's on the verge of walking but crawls everywhere! And she's fast too! This is what the two of us do:

The mornings and evenings have turned freezing around these parts so we dress in layers. The shoes keep the socks on since she likes to pull her socks off and chew on them. Who cares if we match? Not us!

We do lots of walking with the Lightening McQueen car. She's finally figured out how to steer so she can get where she wants to go and not just run into the wall and get stuck.

Next, she'll find the kitty and try to play with him. She'll chase that poor cat everywhere. She learned how to climb the stairs so she could chase the cat. He figured out that she couldn't climb the stairs to get him so he'd sit 4 or 5 stairs up and just stare at her with a look that said, "Haha! Sucker! You can get me. Neener neener neener!" Needless to say, he was surprised the day he opened his eyes and saw Becca right in his face.

She'll stand on her own.

Then she'll help Grandma Harper with the dishes.

And get soap beards...

From doing this. Who knew that soap could taste so good?

Just a Snapshot

Sorry it's been so long folks. Until I can get some pictures for a post I have in mind, here's a snapshot of the past month and a half.

Summer:

Swimming with Cousin Brinley

I can splash BIG!

So you're telling me that if I lean on the side of the pool, the water comes out?

Hey Mommy. I like to be outside!

Look! I can stand one handed!

Fall:
Haha! I have stolen the arrow.

And now I'm going to eat it!

Playing with Cousin Payton (He's 3 months younger than Becca and they're the same size. I have one skinny minnie of a daughter!)

I have my two bottom teeth! Wanna see?

Swimming

We're living with Clinton's brother(Allen) and sister-in-law(Alicia) in their house while we're here in Blackfoot. Allen, Alicia and their two girls will be moving to North Dakota. After they move, Clinton and I will house sit for them until the house sells or we move back to Rexburg in January. Rebecca has loved having her cousins to play with. It's so fun to have kids closer to her age to play with her. It has prompted her to start crawling so she can chase after them. She's still slow at the crawling but she's working on it.

One of the many great things about living in a house instead of an apartment is the fact that there's a backyard. A backyard with a little pool to swim in. Rebecca just loves the water. She loves to splash. ALOT.

The water was a bit cold. It took her a minute to get used to it.

Splashing around with cousin Adalyn. Cousin Brinley, who's 3 months older than Rebecca, was taking a nap and missed out on all the fun.

Drying off before going inside.

Adalyn was making her laugh. Super cute!

Reader's Digest

Holy cow it's August. I just realized that today. Where did July go? I guess the days just disappeared in the chaos that encompassed July. So much has happened. Fourth of July, finals for Clinton, Andy(Clinton's brother)'s wedding, moving back to Blackfoot, getting situated in a new place (again), etc. Life has been crazy. But then again, what's life without a little bit of insanity?

On the Fourth of July, we went to JcPenneys to get some family pictures taken. Rebecca, who is normally a happy baby, decided that that would be the day to be grumpy. Of course. On the day I want to her smile and be happy and super cute. We got one picture where she looks like she's thinking about smiling. For all the other pictures she gave this blank stare. Not quite the look I was going for but it was going to have to do. At least she wasn't screaming. Afterwards, we went over to Griffin and Mackenzie(Clinton's old roommate and his wife)'s apartment for a BBQ. What's a Fourth of July without a BBQ? Then Rebecca decided to smile and be happy. Classic.

Griff and Mackenzie are having a baby in January. Rebecca played with some of the toys they've gotten for the new baby. Rebecca thought the JumperRoo was great.

The rest of the month was non-exciting. Finals were survived. The wedding was fabulous. We packed and moved back to Blackfoot. And here we are. Trying to not die from the heat.

Summertime Fun

On Saturday, we took Rebecca to a little water thing in Porter Park called the Splash Park. It's a little jungle gym that squirts water for kids to play in. It also squirts water from the ground. Rebecca loves taking a bath and being in the water, so I thought that she would like the Splash Park. Plus it was super hot so I thought that she would enjoy playing in the water and cooling off at the same time. I couldn't have been more wrong. I sat her down in the water, she looked up at me and started crying. I picked her up and she calmed down. I tried to set her down several more times but every time she touched the water she started crying. So we abandoned that plan and decided to go play on the swings (that's why she's wearing her swim suit). The swings she LOVES!

Watching the other kids play on the jungle gym. She loves to watch other kids run and play.

Here we are together. Rebecca was a least looking at the camera!

And I promise we aren't sunburned. It was just really hot!

Going to the Park One Day. In the Merry, Merry Month of...June?

On our way to the park. It was such a beautiful day!

Becca's first time on the swings. She was loving it!

I've been waiting to put her in this dress for months. It's so darn cute on her!

Her new favorite toy: an Icebreakers mints container. She likes the sound it makes when she shakes it.

Overall she's just a happy, happy baby!

California Sun and other happenings

During Spring Break, we took a trip to California to visit my family. We spent 2 days in Disneyland and then spent the rest of the time in Chico. It was a great break from Rexburg. It was sunny! And warm! It was also Rebecca's first time on an airplane. She did so well. She pretty much just slept or played with her toys.

Waiting for the plane to takeoff

Watching the carts with luggage go by

Waiting for the Aladdin show to start

Waiting for the Parade down Main Street
And yes, I had just gotten done nursing in both of these pictures. Hurray for nursing covers!
Playing with cousin Audrey at Grandma Stacy and Grandpa Mark's house
Even though it looks like Audrey is about to attack Rebecca, they really did have fun playing together!

Since our California trip, Rebecca has achieved a new milestone... SITTING BY HERSELF!!!
And a little bit of falling too...
P.S. It's just a coincidence that Rebecca's wearing the same outfit in this post. She really does have other outfits.

New Things

We have tried some new things in the past few weeks. The first one is the Jenny Jump Up. It's one of those jumper things you put in a doorway. Rebecca likes being able to "stand up" on her own. She can't jump or bounce herself yet but she does spin herself in circles. The best doorway to put it up in is our front closet/pantry. It's the only doorway besides the bedroom and bathroom doors. Plus it's the only doorway where I can be in the living room or kitchen and still be able to see her.

Bambi must be pretty epic when you're 4 months old!

We have also started feeding her SOLIDS! She wasn't too sure about the rice cereal at first but now she's feeling pretty ok with it. She likes it thicker and not thinned out a ton. That took some experimentation to find out. She's only had rice cereal up to this point but now that she's got the hang of it, I'll be trying some oatmeal baby cereal. We'll see how that goes!

Last but most definitely not least, IT'S WARM OUTSIDE! I can dress Rebecca in some of the new clothes we got for her to go to California. It's been too cold to put her in them up to this point. But yesterday and today, the temperature has been up in the mid 60's. We can play outside and not have to stay cooped up inside all day.

Ok so these aren't pictures of her outside. I forgot my camera. Oops. But these photos do showcase one of her spring outfits!
